Paper published on environmentally friendly diet

Council member Prof. Annette Elisabeth Töller and expert staff Dr. Katharina Schleicher have just published an article on diet - especially meat consumption - and environmental policy. They examine factors influencing food behavior, policy instruments for behavior change and potential problems with regard to their political feasibility. The article “Dietary Behavior as a Target of Environmental Policy: Which Policy Instruments Are Adequate to Incentivize Plant-Based Diets?” is published open-access in the academic journal Sustainability and can be accessed here. It draws on the report by the German Advisory Council on the Environment “A Political Responsibility: Facilitating Environmentally Friendly Behaviour” published in 2023.
